What is the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI)

The SFI offers payments to farmers who adopt and maintain environmentally sustainable land management practices. By entering a 3-year SFI agreement, you can deliver a range of environmental land management actions that support long-term sustainable land use.

We can help with all aspects of the SFI scheme;

  • Application
  • Yearly reviews
  • Soil Sampling for Organic Matter (SAM 1)– through SOIL ADVISOR

    • Conduct soil testing — including GPS-mapped or non-GPS sampling for Organic Matter — for all land parcels included in this action.
    • Analyse laboratory reports and interpret all results to identify soil condition, nutrient status, and key indicators of soil health.
    • Produce a comprehensive Soil Management Plan, using all collected data to outline practical, evidence-based strategies for maintaining and improving long-term soil health.
  • Creating Integrated Pesticide Management Plans (IMP1)*
  • Creating Nutrient Management Reports (NUM1)*

    • We also provide Nutrient Management Plans that meet all compliance requirements for this option, using historical farm records and up-to-date soil sample results.
  • Variable Rate application of Nutrients (PRF1)

    • Using your soil analysis results, we can create variable-rate application files for use on your farm, ensuring full compliance with this SFI option.

Must be done by BASIS/FACTS qualified advisor.
